Flower cards for anniversary

Today I am sharing a card I made for my husband for our anniversary earlier this summer. Omar loves flowers as long as they are not pink or girly, he likes, actually he demands, that the cards I make for him have flowers and have some green - his favourite colour.

I decided to make the anniversary card using Flower Cards, one of the new dies set from Everyday Memories, my new collection of dies for Sizzix. These cards you can use for Pocket scrapbooking as they are 3" x 4" makes them all the more versatile.

I place the inner die on the front of the card and secure it in place using 3M low tack tape. Alternatively, if you have one of the Sizzix magnetic plates use it to secure the die in place. On the right you can see after I run it through the Big Shot machine, the die cuts the aperture with all the intricate detail.

Of course, me being me, I didn't really pre planned the card, so after I die cut the aperture I realized I wanted a green background. So I used the Rectangles 2 framelits which I designed to fit perfectly an A6 card, die cut using the second largest out of green card.

To place the aperture on the green paper exactly right, I place the Flower card die in the original place - which is easy as it just slots in to place - and then place the outer card die with the blade facing me and with low tack tape also facing up. Once I was happy I placed the green paper over and press on the sides where the low tack tape was and voila, I had the die exactly where I wanted.

As you can see there is an even white border all round. However, i change my mind and I wanted to add a thin yellow frame. To do this I just use both straight rectangles from the Flower Cards and de cut with the Big Shot. I also die cut one of the flowers from the Intricate Flowers 2 as it matched perfectly with the Flower Cards.

I place the orange flower behind one of the flower on the aperture and the yellow frame.
Finally, I stamped the message - from my Large All year Round stamps sets for Personal Impressions -  and die cut it using another of my Sizzix designes, Sentiment Tags.

To add more anniversary feeling, I added the two Heart veneers from Artcuts.

I love the floating effect of this aperture cards! And it has flowers and green, so my husband did like it after all.

A quick one

November is one of my least favourite months as the days become really short, but on the other and usually is a busy month so I cant dwell on it too much.

Just sharing this super quick card I made using left overs that I had on the table.

I used:

Sizzix, Flower, Star to die cut the whole flower,
Sizzix, Square Framelits to create the aperture,
Sizzix, Circles #2
Personal Impressions Clear stamps, Essential Christmas PPCSA6005

Which reminds me, I should really make a move on my Christmas cards.

A fancy Wrap and Fancy Charm tutorial - part 1 of 2

Today i am going to share a bit of a tutorial about the two sets that coordinate bellow from my Sizzix collection of Framelits. The aim is more to show how they work together than to make a pretty project.

They are:
Fancy Wrappers                                Fancy Charms

On to the making card:

I placed two dies from the rectangles - Sizzix Framelits Rectangles #2 - secure with low tack tape and die cut using my Big Shot.

Because Rectangles #2 is based on a european A6, it means that as long as the card you use is true european A6, it will always nest nicely. However there is a lot of card sold "like A6" that is actually 6 x 4" which is not true european size, so it wont work as well.
Just be aware!

Here you have the Fancy squares of the Fancy Wrappers set. Both of them kind of nest as you can see above and bellow.

But you dont have to use then necessarily together.

Then I die cut all the fancy squares, both from the Wrappers and Charms. The smallest one, on the left of the photo, is the one that comes on the Fancy wrappers. The other four charms are part of the Fancy Charms, but they all mix and match.

As you can see here.

And here. Those Wrappers are ready now to be used.

Here I stamped a message from my stamps designed for Personal Impressions called Simple Flowers. Then i placed one of the Sizzix Sentiment Tags dies, secured it with low tack tape and die cut.

Here you have it all assembled. Quick and easy!

And this is another version, a bit more oriental!

Tomorrow another quick tutorial using the Fancy squares to make a background.

Edge Framelits

To celebrate that the Fresh Moments dies that I designed for Sizzix EU are arriving to the shops around, I thought I would a series of tutorials and projects featuring the collection in the next few weeks in three blogs that I post - Sizzix EUTubo and of course this very one.
This is a mini tutorial on how the Edge Framelits work. Basically they are a framelits designed to go on the edge of a card. Some of them will cut a decorative edge and some will cut smaller details a long a vertical line (like the flower on the left of the photo bellow).

There are two sets of Edge Framelits in the Fresh Moments collections.
Today I will feature the Dotty and Flower set. The other set is called Flowers and Hearts.

All the Edge Framelits that actually cut a decorative edge can be cut two ways, positive or negative.

The negative way is basically getting the edge on the opposite side that it was designed or originally thought, but often equally as decorative.

The positive way is to place the side with the decorative blade on the right side of the card edge like the above photo shows.

To decorate the front I die cut a vase (Flower Vases), flowers (Bunch of Flowers) and sentiment tags on which I stamped the message - from Simple Flowers.
I placed inside of the card a pice of stripe paper and a the scallop band die cut using the Circle Wrappers
You can see bellow how the scallop band of the Circle Wrappers works with the edgelit looks rather nice, dont you think?
