Birthday card with butterflies

I made this card for one of my best friends a couple of weeks ago.

the base of the card is die cut using the Sizzix tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate die.

I used the Intricate Butterflies (Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 8PK - Butterflies, Intricate by Paula Pascual 659971),  Sizzix Framelits Die Set - Tab Cards 659970 and the Everyday Tab Messages CICSA6256 (Craftie Charlie | The Glitter Pot | Sir Stampalot).

The base of the card is a patchwork technique done with some of my favourite My Minds Eye papers from a few years ago. Love those pinks and greens together. Simple but made with love

Adhesives ...

Just a quick post today. As some of the dies are very detailed I loved when Stix2 started doing the foam strips. On the same sheet they come as 5mm and 3mm wide which is ideal for different projects.

I just trim the length I need with a non stick scissors. I prefer to cut them rather than using the ready cut 3 x 3mm as this are a pain to place and remove backings. With the strip its so much easier!

Ps: the peace die cut is from the Christmas Phrase Card and the butterflies bellow are from the Butterflies cards.

They would also make the best shaker card adhesives!

A Christmas ornament tree card

I love Christmas trees, I love flowers and I love triangles. Combining all three things I designed a die that is intricate and creates a beautiful detailed apertures in the shape of a Christmas triangular tree - 659976 Sizzix - Ornament Tree by Paula Pascual.

It will fit on a 5 x 7" card, but worry not, I made a template to create the triangular card that you can download here. It has three pages, with four different ways, a double fold triangular card, a trifold card, a topper with edges, and a single triangle that can be used for bunting. remember that use is strictly personal and for charitable causes.

The die cuts all the little holes and bigger flowers. It is so simple and quick and easy to make, that I think this will probably end up as my Christmas card!

I printed and cut the folded template to create the brown card base.

I followed the template marks to cut and score down the middle.

Then I used the single triangle template to cut and score the patterned paper.

I then die cut it.

I just attached it to the brown card by folding the flaps to create a bubble effect. You may need to trim the flaps a bit more as I designed them big enough to create a box like the one on the left photo.

I used a strong glue to attach the flaps, but remember if you are not too bothered about the bubbled effect, then use the single triangle template and glue directly.

This was done out of copier paper just to test the template. And I loved the effect of the white on white so I thought I would share it!

New Stamps! Mixed Christmas Messages CICSA6254

Here you have Mixed Christmas Messages CICSA6254!

Paula Pascual Clear Stamps - Mixed Christmas Messages by Personal Impressions CICSA6254

I have done quite a few circle stamps, some square ones, so the next step was to do oval ones that would match my new dies for Sizzix - Oval Cards 659968.

I wanted a mixed feel about it, messages, definition, oval as well as definition ones, and also some more numbers as I love what Paula Whittaker does with them - like this ones, but this time I wanted them to be Christmas themed.

But you can use the numbers for none Christmas projects like above. (The message is from Bold and Beautiful set and the flowers are Sizzix Thinlits Intricate Flowers 2)

There are 15 separate stamps, so plenty of combinations! To give you an idea of size, the top left stamp measures approximately 48mm x 21mm.
Coordinates with Sizzix Framelits Die Set 11PK - Oval Cards 659968, with the smallest oval die as well as with more fancier ones.

Also works well with other of my Paula Pascual stamp sets: Fancy Christmas and Big Christmas Essentials.

As usual it is an A6 size stamp sheet, it is made of high-quality, durable material (for use with an acrylic block - not included) and it is distribute by Personal Impressions, so all their stockists should be able to get hold of them.

Flower cards for anniversary

Today I am sharing a card I made for my husband for our anniversary earlier this summer. Omar loves flowers as long as they are not pink or girly, he likes, actually he demands, that the cards I make for him have flowers and have some green - his favourite colour.

I decided to make the anniversary card using Flower Cards, one of the new dies set from Everyday Memories, my new collection of dies for Sizzix. These cards you can use for Pocket scrapbooking as they are 3" x 4" makes them all the more versatile.

I place the inner die on the front of the card and secure it in place using 3M low tack tape. Alternatively, if you have one of the Sizzix magnetic plates use it to secure the die in place. On the right you can see after I run it through the Big Shot machine, the die cuts the aperture with all the intricate detail.

Of course, me being me, I didn't really pre planned the card, so after I die cut the aperture I realized I wanted a green background. So I used the Rectangles 2 framelits which I designed to fit perfectly an A6 card, die cut using the second largest out of green card.

To place the aperture on the green paper exactly right, I place the Flower card die in the original place - which is easy as it just slots in to place - and then place the outer card die with the blade facing me and with low tack tape also facing up. Once I was happy I placed the green paper over and press on the sides where the low tack tape was and voila, I had the die exactly where I wanted.

As you can see there is an even white border all round. However, i change my mind and I wanted to add a thin yellow frame. To do this I just use both straight rectangles from the Flower Cards and de cut with the Big Shot. I also die cut one of the flowers from the Intricate Flowers 2 as it matched perfectly with the Flower Cards.

I place the orange flower behind one of the flower on the aperture and the yellow frame.
Finally, I stamped the message - from my Large All year Round stamps sets for Personal Impressions -  and die cut it using another of my Sizzix designes, Sentiment Tags.

To add more anniversary feeling, I added the two Heart veneers from Artcuts.

I love the floating effect of this aperture cards! And it has flowers and green, so my husband did like it after all.

New Stamps! Everyday Tab Messages - CICSA6256

Today i present to you: Everyday Tab Messages - CICSA6256

13 individual clear stamps, with many stamping combinations! Usually I go for more rounded messages, but I thought it would be nice to have a mix and match set with simple essential sentiments. The numbers are a fun element that can make lovely backgrounds as demonstrated by Paula Whittaker - like this ones.
Also co-ordinates with Sizzix Framelits Die Set - Tab Cards 659970.
As usual it is an A6 size stamp sheet, it is made of high-quality, durable material (for use with an acrylic block - not included) and it is distribute by Personal Impressions, so all their stockists should be able to get hold of them.

3 x 4 Phrase Card Sizzix dies for Pocket Scrapbooking

As I was explaining earlier this week, all the card dies ( ButterflyFlowerPhraseChristmasOvalFancy and Tab Cards) from the Sizzix Everyday Memories collection fit nicely on the pocket scrapbooking protectors.
I tried the following protectors: Project Life, Simple Stories, We are Memory Keepers... They all work well with the dies. They are also designed to work for other projects.

Phrase Cards - all the shapes included

That is why I designed then so the outer 3 x 4" die is separate from the inner detailed die. That way you can die cut both at once or separately for aperture cards.

To die cut one LOVE card innie and outie, I place both of them on to the paper and secure them in place with 3M low removable tape. Alternatively (especially if you are not taking pictures of the process!) you can use the Sizzix Magnetic plate to secure them in place.

One top tip, with a die that has a perfectly straight edge/s (any type of die from any manufacturer) it is best whenever possible to run it at angle so that when it goes through the machine, the rollers don't have to cut that straight line all at once and making a horrible clunking noise.  The angle just makes a smoother operation! (And probably will cut better too.)

Before I remove the die, I made sure that it had cut all the lines. I shouldn't have worried, but since it was foiled thick card, I wasn't sure. On the right you can see the die cut and  leftovers, which are usable!

You can die cut the photo or if you prefer you can just glue the LOVE card on to the photo and then trim the excess old fashion style.

Also, you can use the leftovers as another frame on the right!
