Flower cards for anniversary

Today I am sharing a card I made for my husband for our anniversary earlier this summer. Omar loves flowers as long as they are not pink or girly, he likes, actually he demands, that the cards I make for him have flowers and have some green - his favourite colour.

I decided to make the anniversary card using Flower Cards, one of the new dies set from Everyday Memories, my new collection of dies for Sizzix. These cards you can use for Pocket scrapbooking as they are 3" x 4" makes them all the more versatile.

I place the inner die on the front of the card and secure it in place using 3M low tack tape. Alternatively, if you have one of the Sizzix magnetic plates use it to secure the die in place. On the right you can see after I run it through the Big Shot machine, the die cuts the aperture with all the intricate detail.

Of course, me being me, I didn't really pre planned the card, so after I die cut the aperture I realized I wanted a green background. So I used the Rectangles 2 framelits which I designed to fit perfectly an A6 card, die cut using the second largest out of green card.

To place the aperture on the green paper exactly right, I place the Flower card die in the original place - which is easy as it just slots in to place - and then place the outer card die with the blade facing me and with low tack tape also facing up. Once I was happy I placed the green paper over and press on the sides where the low tack tape was and voila, I had the die exactly where I wanted.

As you can see there is an even white border all round. However, i change my mind and I wanted to add a thin yellow frame. To do this I just use both straight rectangles from the Flower Cards and de cut with the Big Shot. I also die cut one of the flowers from the Intricate Flowers 2 as it matched perfectly with the Flower Cards.

I place the orange flower behind one of the flower on the aperture and the yellow frame.
Finally, I stamped the message - from my Large All year Round stamps sets for Personal Impressions -  and die cut it using another of my Sizzix designes, Sentiment Tags.

To add more anniversary feeling, I added the two Heart veneers from Artcuts.

I love the floating effect of this aperture cards! And it has flowers and green, so my husband did like it after all.
