Tonic Studios | Gift Box Paper Decoration

Valentine's Day is around the corner, so what better than make a plain giftbox to look stunning with some die cut elements.

I used the Vibrant Damask Patterned Panels, Sent with Love and Sunburst Ganazia dies from Tonic Studios.
I die cut twice the Damask vertically,  linking the pattern on the short edge to create a continuous pattern. then I glued the top and bottom to the edge of the lid to crete an arch effect.

Of course I added some Nuvo Glitter drops, these in Pink Champagne and Honey Gold.

Finally I added the sentiment using the Sent with Love.

Pink, white and black. Pretty!

Tonic Studios | Floral Blooms Frame

Sometimes just a bit of home decor with a photo is just the thing to make.

Tonic Beautiful Blooms - Woodland Aster 1285E - USA | UK

Tonic Patterned Panels Die Set - Classic Quatrefoil - USA | UK

Tonic Beautiful Blooms - Gerbera Daisy 1287E - USA | UK
Tonic Sew Pretty Zip & Button 1229E  - USA | UK
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Aquamarine 807N - USA | UK

Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Cosmic Brown 810N - USA | UK

The leaves and button have been coloured from white paper like I showed in this tutorial.

To paint the frame (directly on to naked wood) I used a dry brush and painted with Aquamarine - USA | UK - embellishment mousse. To add a bit of a distress look I used my finger and used the Cosmic Brown 810N - USA | UK - as a gilding wax around some of the areas.
Any questions, please leave them on the comments!

Thanks for visiting!

Tonic Studios | Sunburst Gazania Love Card

Another card using the Bautiful Blooms Gazania from Tonic Studios Beautiful Blooms - USA | UK.

I used:

Beautiful Blooms - Sunburst Gazania 1288E - USA | UK
Beautiful Blooms - Gerbera Daisy 1287E - USA | UK
Beautiful Blooms - Apple Blossom 1290E - USA | UK
Simply Screens - Clematis Vines - USA | UK
Miniature Sentiments - Sent with Love 1254E - USA | UK
Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss - Bubblegum 672N -  USA | UK

And coral, light coral and green paper; and white and black card.

I die cut first the screen, then the edge (also from the same Simply screens die set) and then place the paper inside the card.
Then, I die cut all the different elements and layered them on the front.
The sentiment says Sent with Love, but i trimmed the Sent With to make the sentiment fit in better on the card.

Finally I added the button and the Nuvo Crystal Drops in the centre of the panels.

I hope you like it!

Tonic Studios | Win & Tonic Gazania Card

Today is the first day of Win and ToniI c blog! It is a challenge blog that every month will have  have a prize given by Tonic Studios. Wether you are UK based or not, you can participate. To read more about it and participate click here.

How exciting!

For this first challenge, we have a Anything goes theme, so I thought I would share this card in which I use several sets of Tonic dies as well as the gorgeous Embellishment Mousses. The full tutorial is at the bottom of the post.

I used from Tonic Studios:

Beautiful Blooms - Sunburst Gazania 1288E - USA | UK
Beautiful Blooms - Magnolia Flora 1289E - USA | UK
Beautiful Blooms - Woodland Aster 1285E - USA | UK
Trellis Circle Base Die set 489e - USA | UK
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Black Ash 811N - USA | UK
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Spring Green 808N - USA | UK
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Peony Pink 800N - USA | UK

Sentiment Stamp: Big Sentiments, PICSA6068 Paula Pascual for Sweet Dixie

Plus Card in white, hot pink and green and glues.

Here is how I made it:

First I die cut the Trellis Circle Base Die - USA | UK - positioning it hanging out of the card. I almost always secure my dies with low tack tape, and for this one its essential.

Scotch Removable Magic tape is the low tack tape I have been using for over the last twelve years. Its the only one that has never let me down.
I run it through my die cutting machine - as it is an A6 folded card - it will fit through any standard 6" wide machine.

And this is one of the tricks I have been using lately to remove all the bits, a humble lint roller that I get from H&M for under a pound. This will also pick up all the paper crushing thin lines that you get when die cutting.

(This is because when die cutting you actually don't cut but rather crush the paper or card, hence you create a the tiny sliver of paper that is just under the "blade" which is hard to remove in some cases. The Lint roller removes them really nicely.)

Using the middle circle die from the trellis set to create a mask. I used a full adhesive sticky note. Then using thin washi tape I masked all four sides to create a thin white edge all around.

Then using a foam pad and applicator I applied Mousse Spring Green - USA | UK - dabbing the mousse to create texture.

Once dry, I removed first the tape revealing the white edge, and then the sticky note.

I die cut the centre of the circle using the smallest circle die on the Trellis set.

Then I die cut two white Sunburst Gazanias - USA | UK using white card using both dies the outer and inner one to create the intricate detail on them. I Also die cut a solid pink one.
I trimmed one of the white ones as the picture shows.

I layered one of the white ones on to the pink one, and then using the Mousse Peony Pink - USA | UK - I dry brushed the trimmed flower. Then I glue it on top of the full one.

I completely changed the colour of a die cut (medium Trellis circle) using the Black Ash  mousse - USA | UK.

I stamped the message - Big Sentiments - with Versafine and die cut it using the Advent Drawer Deco Die set – UK.

Finally I added some swirls from other two sets of Beautiful Blooms, Magnolia Flora 1289E - USA | UK and Woodland Aster - USA | UK.

And what about another version? With a bit more pink, like this...

I used for this one:

Beautiful Blooms - Sunburst Gazania 1288E - USA | UK
Beautiful Blooms - Apple Blossom 1290E - USA | UK
Trellis Square Base Die set 488e - USA | UK
Miniature Sentiments - Sent with Love 1254E - USA | UK

I hope you like them!

Tonic Studios | Apple Blossom Oval Happy Birthday Card

Keeping on the theme of Tonic Studios Beautiful Blooms - USA | UK, I am sharing more cards. Today is the turn for the Apple Blossom - USA | UK.

For this simple quick and easy card I used:

Beautiful Blooms - Apple Blossom 1290E - USA | UK
Mixed Layering Oval Set - USA | UK
Sentiments Birthday Swirl - USA | UK
Nuvo Crystal Drops Ebony Black - USA | UK.

The floral paper is from Heidi Swap and coral is from Simple Stories.

To make the base card I die cut two scallop ovals, and on just one I scored it on the left edge at about 2cm or just under 1". Then I glued that tab to the other piece to create a single folded card that has an edge all around.
using the same layering set I die cut a smaller straight edge oval and attached it to the card.

For the Birthday Swirl - USA | UK - sentiment, I die cut it using black card and removed all the excess bits. Then I die cut it using thick gold matt mirri card, as it is extra thick all the bits inside didn't fall away so while still on the die I used thin washi tape to keep them in place. After, I glued the black sentiment over the top.

I die cut the flowers using the Apple Blossom - USA | UK - using just the outer die with white card and then the outer and inner aperture creating die using the coral paper. That is the beauty of verso dies, you can do so much with them!

Finally, I just added the dots in the centres of the flowers using Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ebony Black - USA | UK. Since I started using the Nuvo Drops, no card is complete without them!

See you next time!

Tonic | Blooms Card

Last few weeks, I have been making more cards using Tonic Studios dies for the shows on  Create and Craft USA, this time featuring the gorgeous Beautiful Blooms (USA | UK). This is one of the cards.

I used my favourite flowers from the set, the gorgeous Sunburst Gazania (UK) and the scroll which is from the Magnolia Flora (UK).
The panel on the back is die cut using the Simply Screen Honeycomb ( USA | UK).

As the flowers and fern are verso, it means that you can die cut the flower as a solid die cut or the intricate aperture cutting into the flowers. I love the Verso dies!
I die cut all the elements using papers fro Simple Stories (I am collection), and layered them up.

I like a bit of mirri card, just poking out. And of course I finished the card with some gorgeous Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell  (USA | UK) and Liquid Mercury (USA | UK).

This is as elaborate as I go for cards. Loads of different elements layered in one part of the card. Cant stop using this flower dies!
